Fashion Army: The soldiers

Submitted by The Style Aficionado on February 5, 2010 – 9:17 amNo Comment

For us ladies, our closet is like our army. The right pair of heels paired with the right outfit can win any war. We have the very important generals like our go to jeans, and classic everything bag; the trendy lieutenants that pull it all together, and the soldiers that put in all the hard work.

In the fashion army, the soldiers are just as important as the General and in fact, makes the General shine. So what exactly are the soldiers? and what separates them from the rest of the army?

The soliders are all the behind the scenes little things that make your wardrobe work. Sure you could land a job (win a war) without gel cushions in your shoes, but they make it so much easier. On a shelf in my closet I store all my little soldiers together for easy access. My fashion arsenal. It is stocked with things like double stick tape, shoe cushions, safety pins, and some other random items typically found around the house. My stylist kit has even more.

Here is what I recommend you have in your fashion arsenal (not be be confused with the beauty arsenal) at all times.

Shoe cushions of various shapes sizes and supports

Anti skid pads (for new shoes)

Double stick tape

Reusable lint roller

Socks (not just any socks, the kind with cut outs for different types of shoes)

Safety pins

Stick witchery (The no sew seam stuff)

Superglue

Bra Converter clips

Spanx or Support Garments - no matter how skinny or fit you are, you should have support garments to keep all the lovely lumps and bumps smooth. Certain fabrics that gather against skin will smooth out and lay flat over control wear. I actually keep this in my lingerie drawer, but they are definitely a part of the arsenal.

Needle and Thread and/or Button Genie

Clothes Pins – They make a great DIY clip hanger for strapless dresses, skirts, and pants; when paired with a wire or thin hanger.

What are your must have fashion arsenal items?
